	You know what it’s like, You’ve got a new camera and you want to play with it. I finally decided to get a decent digital SLR after experimenting with the compact for a couple of years. We set out for the day with the dog and went to watch the red squirrels at Formby, took a picnic and not one picture. On the return trip we say a signpost for Anthony Gormley’s “Another Place”. We turned off, followed another few signs and found a beach full of people and statues.

I liked the way the motionless figure seemed to be staring out to sea towards the oil or gas rig while the water swirled around his feet and the vapour trails diffused into the sky. It seemed to say something about our addiction to petrochemicals and the cost of that to our environment.

I suspect the artist probably had something quite different in mind, but it was that carbon connection that struck me most.
