That means they are my property and copying them is theft.

Some people believe that because they are simply making a copy of something they found on the internet then they are doing no real harm to anyone. I have a different opinion.

I have worked very hard to make the content of this web site, I have stood for hours in the cold waiting for the light to be just right, I have hunched over a keyboard on days that I would rather have been enjoying the sun and I have studied my subject for longer than a doctor learns about medicine.

So why on Earth wouldn’t I be annoyed if someone steals my work?

Of course, It’s impossible to stop them from taking my low resolution pictures and putting them on their desktop. I can’t stop them pretending that they are their own and putting them on a web site. I can’t even stop them publishing them somewhere.

However, when I find out they have done one of these things, without my specific written permission, I can sue them for every scrap of money they possess. If that is not enough I might decide to take their house and car as well.

The case is very easy to prove, I have the original images and they do not. Each image is also digitally encoded to help me track their use anywhere on the internet.

Of course a far less expensive way to enjoy my work is to visit again or contact me to make a purchase.
