	Mountains and Lakes

In the summer of 2005 we made a return trip to Lofoten to work.

On this occasion we decided to drive up through Norway from the ferry in Bergen.

The journey was spectacular but also very long and the time we had given ourselves for the journey made for a punishing schedule.

There is no doubt that Norway is a beautiful country but most of it passed us by in a blur.

Often the only opportunities to take pictures were at the places we camped each night as we drove North.

Sadly many of these places were difficult to identify on a map when we returned home.

I made two resolutions as a result of this trip.

The first was to allow more time to the journey if we ever made it again and the second was to buy a digital SLR to do the trip justice.

It seems strange but the wide angle lens on my Nikon really didn’t suit the scenery somehow.

Normally a wide angle is my first choice optic for landscape work but here many of the shots I wanted to take really demanded a telephoto to compress the grandeur of the Norwegian landscape.

Lofoten itself however was a different story.
